My Background
Growing up I didn't have much help from my parents, especially being the first one attending school in the US. I learned a lot on my own which was difficult, and constantly put down by others. Then when I became a mother at the age of 18, I decided I didn't want my children to experience the same.
My Parenting
I read what I could so I could become a better parent. I have also attended some parenting classes to unlearn all the bad habits I grew up with. It is not easy when family around you doesn't want to change. I strive to do my best each day, even days when I don't feel like getting up. I am definitely not perfect and still have plenty to learn. I confess I do not stick so some of the parenting methods I learned......still overcoming the sensation to yell.
What does the future hold?
I see so many moms criticizing others because of the way they are parenting. Why can't we help educate each other instead of belittling? Why can't we go back to being a village instead of putting the world on our shoulders? As I continue learning, I hope I raise my daughters to be the best versions of themselves and to know they have a mother that has their back.
